This beautiful authentic barge from 1906 has all the comforts and modernity to make this parenthesis a delight…. The interior has been renovated giving pride of place to noble materials, such as wood or brass.

A COMFORTABLE AND SPACIOUS SPACE

Wake up gently aboard one of the 3 air-conditioned double cabins each equipped with a private bathroom and benefit from all the contemporary comforts of an authentic luxury barge-hotel. The large and very bright living room, tastefully decorated and furnished, is equipped with many modern facilities, a beautiful library-game library and a quality wine cellar. Outside, the large teak deck terrace invites you to linger and relax and welcomes you for breakfast in the shade of the majestic plane trees of the Canal du Midi. The bridge is a real invitation to laziness and contemplation from the armchairs and deckchairs provided for your relaxation.

You can privatize by reserving the entire barge or privilege the exchanges by sharing the common spaces (living room and terrace) to live magical moments along the fabulous Canal du Midi The Black Mountain barge also has a table d'hôtes and a brunch and breakfast service. Its predominantly pink and white colors naturally evoke the color attributed to Toulouse, the departure city of the Canal Royal and which symbolizes the junction between the Canal Royal and the Garonne. Its sober and soft decoration brings a warm atmosphere

The ALZEAU cabin is equipped with a Queen size bed (or 2 Twin beds), a mirror, a bedside table and a large closet. A large half-moon window offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Canal du Midi. A second round porthole adorns the bathroom. It has reversible air conditioning (hot / cold) and a private bathroom (with a shower, a sink and a toilet).

LA RIGOLE CABIN

Its atmosphere in blue and white tones evokes with subtlety and refinement the period of construction of the Canal du Midi known as “Canal Royal”

We had a wonderful time, Liz was the consummate hostess. The food and wine was outstanding. The excursions were interestingting and varied. The meals were delicious, we enjoyed every meal. Liz made us a cake to celebrate. She discussed the menu with us beforehand, and made adjustments if necessary. She was very accommodating. The wines were delicious. Loved the route. It was so picturesque. I loved that we didn't have a lot of locks. I also loved the variety of our moorings. Some busier that others. The dinners on the deck were the high point. It was such a beautiful setting. And the food and wine were outstanding. We enjoyed sitting out after dinner listening to music and looking at the stars. Our time aboard the Emma was magical. It truly was the trip of a lifetime.

Very memorable experience which combined casual cruising, historic exploration of surrounding cultural sites experiencing exceptional local wine and cheeses. The food was a taste delight. The cruise route is picturesque and tranquil with something different around every corner. It is easy to get off and walk along the path or ride bikes at any time. The service was impeccable, the meals and wines outstanding and Rosie the tour guide, made history come alive. We would most definitely recommend Special Places Travel to others who wish to have a unique travel experience.

WOW!!! Liz, Rene, Amanda and Rosie took great care of us throughout the week. There was nothing overlooked in the way of exceptional service. There were sumptuous meals on the table every day, every meal. The meals included many dishes we had never had before and so it was not only a great learning experience but also wonderful creativity with lots of fresh ingredients. Fresh bread and pastries each day was also a real treat. The wines were excellent and we really enjoyed the variety of local wines some of which we helped select on our tasting room day. Liz and I agreed this was the best overall vacation that we have ever taken. The experience was exceptional and we will have wonderful memories of a great trip for the rest of our lives. Thanks to Rene and Liz for putting such a wonderful experience together.
